Charting - A Journey From Class Room To Corporate House

I can remember creating charts for projects and tasks, when I was at school. Our class teacher used to tell us with certain data, and we had them on graph paper plot or graph paper manually. At that time, I wanted my cards attractive. I have to manage labels correctly, so it is not overloaded. Another important thing that I always waited and asked others to do was ordnungsgemae application of scaling the charts. Sometimes it happens that the data range is not very wide and there is a small graphic chart the bulk of the empty canvas. Through the use of scales, for example, a unit of the paper figure represents 100 units of your data or so, with a chart distributed over the available space.

Creating line, area, bar charts or column was pretty easy, whereas editorial pie or a doughnut chart was a little hectic. Do a lot of calculations and then get ready with a pencil and compass in the circles and arcs for your pie; really annoying. And if you are asked to chart a spiral or a logarithmic chart, you must have a good spare much time and energy to sure.

Later, when I started using Microsoft Office products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc., I found Charting be quite useful. With many options available, I could well charts on variety of projects. Plotting data, colour data plots with different colors and many others got boring tasks automated. A variety of chart types, though not all that I needed, came up with my hand and saved much time for me. It was obviously a better experience than paper charting.

Soon after entering my professional life I felt that with the proliferation of Web 2.0, interactivity is the key word for the development of business solutions and applications. It is customary that corporate houses have their own intranet and /or Web sites these days. And there is more than the truth, charts and graphs important role to play when it comes to reporting or critical business data analysis. So all feel the need for interactive graphics for websites and web applications. It may not be much more difficult for webmasters to show picture charts based on websites. But then, what about Web 2.0 Compliance?

A traditional image based chart is similar to the paper charts that we in the production, if we were in school. It can be scaled, you can color on it and do some other treatments such as skin well. However, based image charts, large load on your server. It also lacks interactivity does not comply with Web 2.0 flavor.

Flash can tremendous help to provide web standards with 2.0 charts and graphics. Flash adds the right spices, you need to cook exciting charts of tonnes of monotonous data! Animated graphics generation tool tip for the hover mouse and drill-down on other related charts are very useful features to connect with your audience.
